On the Issues
What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
Maintaining our quality of life has become the most critical issue we face as a result of this economic downturn. The reduction in state funding to education has put upward pressure on our property taxes and, if uncorrected, could eventually lead to a reduction in our home values. People move to Fairfax County for our outstanding schools. The business community must have the confidence that we are serious about quality education, if they are to invest in Fairfax County. In 2011, the State Senate restored $75 million in cuts from unappropriated funds, and we must continue to prioritize school funding.
Why should voters elect you?
Having run a state agency, served in both the House and Senate, I have the experience and record of getting important things done.
