Montgomery County is responsible for the collection of trash from 89,452 homes, primarily in the southern part of the county. This service is provided through contracts with independent trash collection companies. All other single-family houses and townhouses in the county have trash collected by private haulers. If county collection is suspended because of snow or other severe weather, trash collection will occur one day later for the duration of that week or as soon as possible. Residents may call 240-777-6410 for information on collections during bad weather or check the Web site. The county also provides once-a-week curbside recycling collection service to all residents of single-family houses and townhouses, except for those in municipalities. For information about an area's recycling day, call 240-777-6410.
