09/29/07 Accused Of: Careless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Violating Probation
Allegedly drove his 2007 Benz through a yard, crashed into a tree and then left the accident scene. According to police Barnes first told police he fell asleep while traveling to a mandatory treatment session. Then four hours later, he called back to report his that his car had been stolen. When an officer told him that he had listened to the original 911 call, the tackle reverted to his original story.
Legal Status Updates:
         11/27/07 Dismissed: Duval County Judge James Ruth determined that he had not violated his parole. Prosecutors decided not to file criminal charges of leaving the scene of an accident. Additionally Judge Ruth commended Barnes for his work with MADD.
