Analysis

By Channel '08: Mike Huckabee is starting to spend his money -- and his political capital. In a strong, serious follow-up to his ad with actor and supporter Chuck Norris, Huckabee makes his sales pitch to Iowa Republicans seeking to support a conservative, Christian Republican candidate. "Faith doesn't just influence me, it really defines me," he says while seated by a window. "I don't have to wake up everyday, wondering, 'What do I need to believe?'" he adds, while the words "Christian Leader," and "One of America's Best Governors" flash on-screen, and he walks outdoors with a farmer. The ad cuts to a clip of his speech at October's Values Voter Summit, where he earned strong reviews from the audience. "Let us never sacrifice our principles for anybody's politics. Not now, not ever," he says. Cut to Huckabee mentioning his strong pro-life beliefs. "I believe life begins at conception," he says, while speaking with young children. On-screen writing states he "Supports Federal Marriage Amendment," and "As Governor, Passed Marriage Amendment." More...
