absentee ballot
Defined
A ballot marked by a registered voter and mailed before the election date. These ballots are often used by voters who are out of town, overseas or work at a polling station on Election Day. Voters who are sick or disabled and cannot physically get to the polling station also use these ballots, as well as some senior citizens.
