Industry: Telecommunications | Category: Public Companies

Opnet executives continued to execute a strategy that called for increasing the company's international presence and boosting its sales and marketing operations. The company signed a worldwide distribution agreement last year with Cisco Systems under which Cisco will distribute Opnet's software. Opnet also launched a sales and marketing agreement with Computer Associates International Inc. that pairs the two companies' products.
And it has created a group of technology companies to establish a framework for using WiMAX, a wireless network technology that is similar to WiFi but delivers its signal over large areas, such as city blocks.
The marketing plan appears to be paying off. In the third quarter the company earned $1.2 million on revenue of $20.1 million. Revenue grew 25 percent, driven by software license revenue, the company said.
Opnet is also building on its research and development centers. Earlier this year it expanded its offices in southern New Hampshire, building on its acquisition of Altaworks Corp. two years ago.
