Industry: Aerospace And Defense | Category: Public Companies

Orbital's revenue grew 4 percent in 2005, largely from sales of communications satellites, interceptor launch vehicles and target launch vehicles. The company said it carried out 16 major launch vehicle and space system missions and 31 smaller rocket and missile target launches. Orbital also delivered 16 rockets for future deployment.
By the end of 2006, the company expects to carry out as many as 28 major launch vehicle and spacecraft missions and deliver at least 15 satellite and launch vehicles for future missions. In February of this year, Orbital announced it had received an order from the U.S. Navy for 19 "Coyote" Supersonic Sea-Skimming Target missiles. All told, Orbital is under contract to build and deliver 39 vehicles to the Navy by early 2008, deals the company estimated to be worth more than $20 million.
Orbital estimates that half of its revenue this year will come from its satellites/space system product lines, which include communications and defense satellites.
