American Woodmark introduced several products last year. In June, it opened a $1.5 million, 30,000-square-foot service center for home builders in Phoenix. But the company was not shielded from the national housing slump, which hit construction and home-furnishings stocks. For its fiscal third quarter ended Jan. 31, American Woodmark said sales fell 16 percent, to $161.2 million.
The company announced some executive moves during the year, including the appointment last August of Kent B. Guichard as president and chief operating officer. Guichard was previously executive vice president and replaced James J. Gosa, who remained chairman and chief executive.
In October, the company appointed Cary Dunston, a former vice president of Diamond Innovations, to be senior vice president of manufacturing.
