Does your company offer child care on the premises?
The firm’s headquarters campus in McLean has an on-site child care center. We are also a corporate sponsor of two childcare centers located near several of our offices, allowing our employees to obtain tuition discounts and priority enrollment.
What is your telecommuting policy?
We estimate that approximately 95% of our employees are eligible for telecommuting, and we provide the necessary tools (such as laptops) to allow them to do so. We even have a “Flex-Work Forum” grass-roots organization of employees who share best practices on telecommuting.
What flexible job opportunities does your company support?
In addition to telecommuting, if it makes sense for the type of work the employee is doing, we permit flexible work scheduling, compressed work week scheduling, job sharing, and part-time schedules.
What kind of educational training does your company provide? Do you offer tuition reimbursement?
Booz Allen provides up to $5,000 per year in advance to pay for tuition and other training expenses. This year Training magazine inducted Booz Allen Hamilton into its exclusive Top 10 Hall of Fame. Outstanding at employer-sponsored workforce training and development, Booz Allen qualified for the honor by being in the Top 10 of Training's Top 125 companies for five consecutive years.
Booz Allen also partners with external colleges and universities to offer convenient, cost-effective, quality educational opportunities. Through these partnerships, our employees have access to reduced tuition rates, waived application fees, personal liaisons to answer questions, and on-site (Booz Allen offices)/online programs.
What kind of skills do you look for in an employee?
We obviously look for achievement in education and strong technical skills, and a security clearance is always a plus. Strong consulting skills in communications, problem solving and relationship building are keys to success in our business. But we also look for people who have passions outside of the workplace and the spark to live life to its fullest.
Does your company offer commuting benefits?
Yes, we provide shuttle services to/from the Metro to our headquarters, shuttle service between our McLean and Herndon offices, and pre-tax set asides for public transportation costs.

Every year, Booz Allen pays approximately 10% of each US-based employee’s total compensation into his or her Employee Capital Accumulations Plan account—regardless of what the employee contributes to his or her own 401K—plus an additional 5.7% of eligible compensation over the Social Security wage base. We have lots of other perks like an on-site gym at our headquarters.
What kinds of philanthropic programs or volunteer activities does your company participate in or provide?
Booz Allen Hamilton believes that good business and corporate philanthropy go hand in hand. As global citizens, we have to reach beyond ourselves to create social change in the communities where we live and work. Our firm has a core commitment to global corporate philanthropy through volunteer service, grants, and pro bono work.
The range of nonprofit partnerships is all-encompassing—from foundations and groups that seek to cure and prevent disease to those responding to domestic and international natural disasters, and from organizations protecting endangered species to those that provide cultural opportunities for people around the world. The key element which separates us from others is our approach to "involvement and impact."
In 2007, Booz Allen Hamilton continued its corporate commitment to make an impact in communities globally. Based on our most recent Community Relations Customer Satisfaction Survey data, 64% of respondents replied that they participate in volunteer activities including those on their own time. More than half the respondents (58%) volunteered through Booz Allen activities. An aggregate of 78,000 volunteer hours were dedicated by employees in support of these activities
Booz Allen also supports its employees’ personal volunteering. In 2007, Booz Allen employees provided 51,506 personal volunteer hours (outside of Booz Allen CR activities) to 287 unique nonprofit organizations. In support of employee efforts, Booz Allen has granted more than $430,000 in unrestricted funding to these organizations.
In addition to support for individual volunteer efforts, Booz Allen provided $6 million in corporate support for Community Relations activities in 2007. Booz Allen increased its impact further by leveraging both intellectual capital and existing partnerships to help nonprofits build their capacity to better meet their missions.
