Washington mega-dealer Darcars recorded another period of strength last year. Darcars was founded by John R. Darvish in 1977 as a Chrysler dealership. In 2006, the company said that it topped the billion-dollar mark in revenue for the third straight year and that sales were steady. Darcars added new stores in the region: a Nissan dealership in College Park, and Jeep stores in Silver Spring and Rockville.
Tamara Darvish, vice president of Darcars, said the dealer group is expanding service and parts operations at its Lexus and three Toyota locations. Darcars is the region's No. 1 seller of Toyotas. Darvish said 2006 was a strong year for import brands, while domestics were "steady at best." She said Darcars will continue to expand in 2007 with new brands or dealership locations, though she didn't offer details.
