Fairchild reported that revenue fell by $32.5 million and that it lost $33 million in fiscal 2006. The company said the decline in revenue stemmed from the downsized activities of its Fairchild Sports USA business and a stronger previous year in its aerospace segment. Fairchild lost $21.3 million in fiscal 2005.
In a filing, the company asked the Securities and Exchange Commission for more time to prepare its end-of-year financial statements, saying it needed to review tax issues. A company spokesman declined to comment about Fairchild's business activities or when the statement might be filed.
The company has complained about high costs associated with complying with federal rules governing public companies and has indicated it would like to go private.
In August, chief executive Jeffrey J. Steiner and another group offered to buy Fairchild and take it private in a deal valued at about $68.3 million. The company said in December that talks concerning the proposal had been terminated.
