After a rough 2005, LCC began to turn around in 2006, as a revamped management team started to focus on executing profitable contracts as opposed to simply winning contracts. Fiscal 2006 revenue was down as a result, to $130 million, compared with $145.6 million in fiscal 2005. But the move also boosted gross profit margins, which increased to 26.6 percent of total revenue, compared with 21.6 percent for 2005.
In June, the firm sold its U.S. deployment division to Nokia, changing its focus from installing wireless networks to consulting and designing network services for clients in the United States.
In September, it sealed a deal to bundle its wireless consulting services with Zandan, a firm that helps wireless operators maximize customers' enjoyment of such content as music downloads.
In December, it won a contract from TerreStar Networks to clear wireless spectrum so it could begin marketing so-called fourth-generation WiMax products — a wireless network technology similar to WiFi that delivers its signal over large areas, such as city blocks.
In January 2007, LCC acquired the Belgian unit of telecommunications services providers Detron and Excicom. A month later, it launched ContentView, a service that allows content providers to gauge how satisfied cellphone users are with the content. Also that month, it announced $2.4 million in contracts with a North American WiMax carrier and a media entertainment company. In March, it signed a $4 million agreement to buy equity interests in Wireless Facilities' Europe, Middle East and Africa business.
