Micros has been on a buying spree. In January of this year, the company paid $32 million for the hotel and retail subsidiaries of RedSky IT, a British software development firm. The retail company serves four of Britain's largest grocers.
Micros said that the deal should not affect its earnings per share in the fiscal year ending June 30 but that it should boost them in the future. Micros said the units are projected to generate $22 million to $25 million in sales in fiscal 2008 and $30 million to $32 million in 2009.
In December, Micros announced that it had purchased for an undisclosed sum the assets of TangentPOS, which produces accounting hardware and software for food vendors and retailers at sports and entertainment venues. Its offerings include wireless hand-held units that enable staff to take orders in the stands and technology that lets retailers keep track of merchandise as it moves from stores to temporary retail stands.
