Formerly known as Watson Wyatt & Company Holdings, the firm changed its name on Jan. 1, 2006, after combining with Watson Wyatt LLP, its European alliance partner, in July 2005.
The company acquired Briggs & Sands, a compensation consulting firm last July and opened offices in Tampa and Frankfurt, Germany. It completed the purchase of its longtime partner in the Netherlands in February 2007. The month before, it entered into a new alliance to market itself in Pakistan.
Kevin Meehan, a 23-year veteran with the firm, was named U.S. region manager in February 2006. He is responsible for managing the firm's consulting operations throughout the United States. Mark Warshawsky, former assistant secretary for economic policy at the Treasury Department, was hired as director of retirement research. Brendan O'Neill, a former chief executive of the British firm Imperial Chemical Industries and Guinness Worldwide, was appointed to the board in July. Roger C. Urwin, an investment consultant, also joined the board last year.
