Still firmly controlled by J.W. Marriott Jr., now 76, Marriott International is one of the world's biggest hotel companies. It manages about 3,000 hotels under brands including the old standby Marriott, the exclusive J.W. Marriott, the ritzy Ritz-Carlton, and the more downscale Courtyard and Fairfield Inn.
