MedStar is a nonprofit health-care organization and network of eight hospitals, including Georgetown University Hospital. It merged with Montgomery General Hospital in Olney in February and began a $30 million expansion of the 149-bed facility. When finished in late 2010, it will include a 23,000-square-foot emergency department, nearly double the size of the current space, to handle as many as 60,000 visits a year.
