NEW handles extended-service contracts, warranties and other buyer-protection plans for appliances, electronics and other goods. Working with retailers such as Wal-Mart, Kmart and BJ's Wholesale Club, the company said it protects the purchases of more than 150 million consumers annually. Since the beginning of the year, the company has launched a subsidiary in China. It has expanded its U.S. operations, adding customer service centers in Tupelo, Miss., and Watertown, N.Y. In January, the company bought ServiceBench, a Fairfax firm that develops Web-based software to manage service activities.
