The nonprofit Public Broadcasting Service generates programming for America's 355 public television stations. It also offers curriculum guides and other educational resources for teachers from pre-K through grade 12. Last year, the company signed a deal with OverDrive to permit libraries to download and lend more than 300 PBS programs. It also began broadcasting the Emmy-winning series "Frontline" in high-definition, part of its effort to shift entirely to HD by February 2009.
