Ullico, with $5.3 billion in assets under management, is a union-owned insurance and financial services holding company whose shares have increased more than 40 percent since 2003. Last year, the firm resolved a five-year-old Labor Department investigation into how it handled disclosures for one of its investment accounts. Ullico agreed to pay $20 million, mostly to investors, taking a one-time charge against its earnings. There was no finding of wrongdoing.
