One of Montgomery County's largest employers, Adventist has 7,200 workers who care for more than 450,000 people a year in the Washington area and New Jersey. Last fall, the hospital opened a primary-care center in Silver Spring in conjunction with Mary's Center, a nonprofit organization that focuses on immigrant mothers and children. Last year, Adventist bought 49 acres for a new facility about six miles north of Washington Adventist Hospital's current location.
