Like many local hotel companies, the real estate investment trust is linked to Marriott, having been spun off in 2004. It owns but does not operate 20 hotels and resorts under the Marriott, Starwood and Hilton brands. DiamondRock said earlier this year that it was trying to sell one or two to help boost liquidity. Four of its six top executives, including new chief executive and founder Mark Brugger, came from Marriott.
