The hospitality giant has 3,178 properties under brands including Marriott, Renaissance and Ritz-Carlton. It also has 125,000 rooms in its development pipeline, nearly 70 percent of which are outside North America. Marriott added 26,000 net hotel rooms in its fiscal 2008 as it cut administrative and investment spending. Chief executive Bill Marriott has expressed concern that the outcry over corporate travel is hurting the hospitality business.
