Sunshine Sour

The Washington Post, March 5, 2008

Summary:

Flavored vodka never met a better cocktail, Jason Wilson says. This has a balance of sweet, sour and bitter, with the egg white providing a rich texture and frothy head.

If you don't have Aperol, which is a bright-orange, low-proof Italian aperitif with a zesty, bittersweet orange taste, you can substitute 1/2 ounce of Campari plus 1/2 ounce of simple syrup.

1 serving

Ingredients:

Directions:

Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice.

Fill a mixing glass two-thirds full with ice. Add the vodka, Aperol, citrus juices and egg white. Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds to form a good froth, then strain into the old-fashioned glass. Garnish with the orange and lemon slices.
