Agavoni

The Washington Post, July 1, 2009
  • Course: Beverage

Summary:

This flavorful drink replaces the gin of a Negroni with tequila. Be sure to use a good, unaged 100 percent agave blanco or silver such as El Tesoro, Siete Leguas or Siembra Azul. Also, do not omit the orange bitters and the grapefruit peel, which tie all the big flavors together. Created by Bastian Heuser, one of Germany's top bartenders, for the German bartending magazine Mixology.

1 serving

Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • 3/4 ounce blanco or silver tequila
  • 3/4 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 3/4 ounce Campari
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • Twist of grapefruit peel, for garnish

Directions:

Fill an old fashioned-glass with ice. Add the tequila, sweet vermouth, Campari and orange bitters. Stir briefly until mixed and chilled. Garnish with the twist of grapefruit peel.
