Phoebe Snow
The Washington Post, October 7, 2009
- Course: Beverage
- Features: Fast
Summary:
Named for one of the early 20th century's most recognized advertising mascots, the fictional Phoebe extolled the virtues of "clean" anthracite rail travel. What the drink has to do with her is anyone's guess. With its French ingredients, perhaps it's what one bartender imagined a sophisticated lady, dressed in white, would sip in a dining car on the Lackawanna Railroad.
1 serving
Ingredients:
- Ice
- 1 1/2 ounces cognac
- 1 1/2 ounces Dubonnet
- 1 teaspoon absinthe (may substitute an absinthe stand-in, such as Pernod)
Directions:
Fill a mixing glass halfway with ice. Add the cognac, Dubonnet and absinthe. Stir vigorously, then strain into a chilled cocktail (martini) glass.
