Ariana Eunjung Cha

» Washington Post Staff Writer | Ariana Eunjung Cha is based out of Beijing covering business and finance in Asia for The Washington Post. She served as the Post's San Francisco Bureau Chief in 2005 and covered the U.S.-led reconstruction efforts in Iraq from 2003 to 2004. Cha joined the paper at the end of 1999 as a national technology reporter on the financial staff. She is a graduate of Columbia University and, in preparation for her posting in China, studied at Princeton University's Beijing language program as well as the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies. She grew up in La Paz, Bolivia; Manila, Philippines; and Washington, D.C.
