James V. Grimaldi, a member of The Post’s investigations unit, has been at the newspaper since 2000 and has reported on national politics, Congress, business, legal affairs and nonprofits. In 2006, he shared the Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting for helping to uncover the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal. The articles also won the Selden Ring Award and Worth Bingham prize.
In 2003, he co-wrote stories on animal deaths at the National Zoo that led to the resignation of the director. Articles he co-wrote after Sept. 11, 2001, were part of the Post entry that was a public-service finalist for the 2002 Pulitzer. He won the 2002 Society of American Business Editors and Writers award for breaking news. James was a contributor to the 2001 book “Deadlock: The Inside Story of America’s Closest Election.” He has been a Knight-Bagehot fellow in business and economics journalism and a 2007 Ferris Professor of Journalism at Princeton University.
James was born in Kansas City, Mo., and holds journalism degrees from the University of Missouri and Columbia University.
