Robert O’Harrow Jr. is an investigative reporter with The Post’s Business section, focusing on government contracting. In 2006, he shared the top award from Investigative Reporters and Editors for a series about contracting fraud, waste and abuse called “The High Price of Homeland Security.” In 2000, he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for coverage of privacy and technology, and in 2003, he was the recipient of the Carnegie Mellon Cybersecurity Award.
Robert is the author of the 2005 book “No Place to Hide,” about data profiling, surveillance and national security in the post-Sept. 11 world. He was co-producer of a radio documentary by the same name. His reporting about the uses of personal information spurred changes in state and federal law.
