Applied Signal Technology, Inc.

Applied Signal Technology, Inc. provides digital signal processing products, systems, and services in support of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) for the detection and location of terrorist activities worldwide. The company offers processing of man-made signals, including communications intelligence (COMINT) and electronic intelligence (ELINT), as well as the processing of naturally occurring signals comprising the use of sonar, radar, magnetic, and chemical sensors to detect changes in the environmental phenomenology. It also develops and manufactures equipment for both the collection and processing of signals. The company's product line includes COMINT products, consisting of voice grade channel (VGC) processors designed to process voice grade channels that carry audio and other signals; wideband processors that clean telecommunication signals for further processing by VGC processors by adjusting for signal distortions that occur during transmission; collection products designed to complement processing products; and software products that are based upon the use of commercial off-the-shelf hardware processors. Applied Signal Technology's sensor processing products include marine processors designed to detect abnormalities in the marine environment, including the presence of a submarine, mines tethered to the ocean floor, and terrorist activities, such as attempts to destruct a telecommunication cable on the ocean floor; and terrestrial processors designed to detect terrestrial abnormalities, such as buried land mines, IEDs, and underground structures. The company also offers systems development and integration, as well as performs various engineering services for operational systems. It serves the United States Government, primarily its military and intelligence agencies, or its prime contractors. The company was founded in 1984 and is based in Sunnyvale, California.
