As of Dec. 31, 2007, its network operated approximately 41 million wireline access lines, 8.2 million broadband connections, and had 943,000 FiOS television TV customers. The Domestic Wireless segment provides wireless voice and data services across wireless networks in the United States. As of the above date, its network covered a population of approximately 263 million and provided service to 65.7 million customers.

The company was founded in 1983. It was formerly known as Bell Atlantic Corporation and changed its name to Verizon Communications, Inc. in 2000. The company is based in New York, New York.

Verizon Federal's Defense and International Services Division is responsible for all Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, United Nations, World Bank, and special accounts supporting customers in over 50 countries worldwide. Federal Network Systems (FNS) LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Verizon Communications. Our focus is to design, implement, operate, and maintain mission-critical wide-area government networks. Members of this organization apply broad technical expertise to provide both leading-edge managed network services and security services for defense and civil agencies on a global basis. We integrate secure, reliable data services, including digital subscriber loop, virtual private networks, and a host of other access, security, Web, and advanced networking products and services, working closely with BBNT and other components of the Verizon Technology team.
