Why should voters elect you?

"If the voters want a 100 percent sincere person, a troubleshooter who looks at problems with a logical, serious attitude, they should vote for me."

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"The traffic problem in Fairfax County and the surrounding areas has gotten to be almost unbearable at times. How much time is lost, how much is productivity reduced? How badly does this affect our overall quality of life? These are problems that are man-made, essentially the products of bad planning. If we start to address these issues with more of a long-term, big-picture attitude, we have a chance to improve things for everyone."

What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?

The stifling automobile traffic in Fairfax County is an urgent problem, but all hope is not lost. With the right approach, it is a fixable problem. At the very least communities adversely affected should start to deal with this before it is too late. The obvious answer is more public transit, less automobiles. I will try to show that when communities and cities invest in REAL public transit, the economy booms, culture blooms and quality of life goes up. Americans need to look to European neighborhoods for inspiration. Rail traffic should be increased at the national level as well. Jet fuel is only going to get more expensive, especially in decades to come. When the fossil fuel supply starts to sink below the level to which we're accustomed, the USA is going to need an alternative long-distance travel system. We have to start building this infrastructure now.

Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?
