"We must better prepare our students to meet the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century by continuing to raise achievement for all students and reaching our new student achievement goals for academics, essential life skills and responsibility to the community; seeking, hiring and keeping the best teachers and staff by providing competitive compensation and positive, respectful work environments; providing classes that are safe, small and orderly, and community schools that are not overcrowded; and utilizing our new management and accountability systems to ensure efficient, effective operations and community support for the funding needed to meet our new goals."
