Why should voters elect you?

My agenda as a legislator is focused strictly on the issues that matter most to my constituents, such as transportation, not on narrow, divisive topics.

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

Perhaps the biggest challenge will be finding the resources necessary to meet the ever-increasing demands of our area's burgeoning population. A comprehensive review of the services government provides and the revenue sources available to pay for them must be performed. Consideration must also be given to privatizing certain functions and, in other cases, to revamping how some government services are being provided, in order to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?

The fundamental precepts that guided enactment of this year's transportation bill are sound -- namely, that the size of the problem merits a significant response; that the resources to be applied ought to be focused on those areas of greatest need; that the burden of raising the necessary revenues ought not to fall disproportionately on one industry or group of taxpayers; and that a role ought to be provided for local government to determine how the money should be raised and where it ought to be spent. If I were to make any changes to the bill, they would be to address the objections that have been leveled by some regarding how certain revenues are raised and the role of local government.

Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?

just right
