What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
"Illegal immigration is certainly the issue in the forefront. Within the public safety system, the Sheriff's Office plays its part in handling the processing of criminals, whether immigrants or not, through the judicial system as efficiently as possible. Those criminals in this country illegally present the additional disposition option of deportation in lieu of incarceration. The sheriff must cooperate with our partners and focus on its primary mission and must remain vigilant in ensuring the community is safe by participation in the coordinated efforts of the public safety system, including 287(g) processing."
What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?
This is not the duty and responsibiity of the Sheriff; however, we will continue to work with other law enforcement agencies to enforce traffic laws.
