Why should voters elect you?
"As a delegate, police officer and former Manassas City Council member, I have heard personally and understand thoroughly the people's concerns in the 50th District."
What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
"I've knocked on over 11,500 doors during the last year and have visited with thousands of 50th District voters in their homes. I hear about illegal immigration more than any other issue. During the 2007 session, I sponsored several pieces of legislation that directly address illegal immigration. Due to these efforts and my experience in law enforcement, I was recently appointed to both the Commission on Immigration and the Commission on Human Trafficking by the speaker of the House of Delegates. This will provide me with another effective platform from which to continue being a leader on this issue."
What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?
During the 2007 General Assembly session, I helped pass the most significant transportation improvement legislation in over two decades. The 2007 Transportation Compromise will provide a good start in getting crucial road projects moving forward in our region. Benefits to Northern Virginia include some $500 million per year that does not funnel through the transportation funding formula in Richmond. This funding stays here at home where it is most needed. However, we MUST fix the abuser fee fiasco. In addition to projects on I-66, my top two transportation goals for the district are improvements to Route 28 and the completion of the Tri-County Parkway (Godwin Drive extension). As I have done in the past, I will continue to work ceaselessly as Delegate on the behalf of my constituents to see these and other transportation goals realized.
Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?
