Why should voters elect you?

"Illegal aliens, awful traffic and out-of-control development threaten our way of life. I will work to change that."

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"Cracking down on illegal aliens is the top challenge facing our community. In March, I proposed a plan that focuses on increased cooperation between Virginia and federal authorities and finding better ways for employers to identify illegal aliens. I want to implement a formal agreement between state and federal authorities, allowing state and local law enforcement to identify, process and detain criminal aliens. We should assist employers with better methods of verifying employment eligibility. I support increasing penalties for production of false documents and increasing penalties for human trafficking."

What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?

We must ensure that Northern Virginia receives our full share of transportation dollars, and we need better long-range planning to meet our transportation challenges. I support VDOT reform. The Transportation Compromise was a step in the right direction; however, the abusive driver fees were a bipartisan mistake. I support immediate repeal of the abusive driver fees.

I have received a committment from the incoming Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee to hold hearings regarding price gouging on toll roads. I'm very disappointed in the recent SCC decision to permit a near doubling of the toll on the Dulles Greenway. The first law I'll propose in the Senate is an overhaul of the statute that governs the process for toll increases. This toll increase will push drivers off the toll road and onto more clogged highways. I will stand against price gouging by owners of private toll roads.

Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?

not restrictive enough
