Why should voters elect you?

"I support rail to Dulles. I will fight for the Tysons tunnel and oppose no-bid contracts. I believe education should be the county's highest priority."

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"Making sure any investment we make in the Metrorail to Dulles project reduces congestion and leads to growth that is balanced with available infrastructure such as streets, schools and parks. If the rail is elevated through Tysons Corner, we risk destroying Tysons' potential to become a vibrant urban center where people will want to live, work and shop. If the open-ended, no-bid contract is awarded to the same contractor who built the Boston Big Dig project, the rail project will cost too much, and county taxpayers and Dulles toll road users will have to pay for any cost overruns."

What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?

Balance growth with available infrastructure like public transit and streets. Require that developers pay their fair share of providing the infrastructure. Focus new housing and commercial development around transit stations. Bring Metro rail to Dulles with a tunnel under Tysons Corner and a competitively bid contract to build the project. Provide communters with options like safe and improved pedestrian and bicycle trails, expanded and improved bus service, telecommuting and ride sharing. Implement effective transportation demand management programs. Protect neighborhoods from cut through traffic and implement traffic calming measures. Implement comprehensive measures to mitigate congestion caused by planned construction in Tysons Corner. Fund spot improvements to reduce local traffic bottlenecks. Fight for Dranesville's fair share of funds from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority for transit, spot improvements, trails and sidewalks. Improve feeder bus service from neighborhoods to rail stations. Implement bus rapid transit and light rail projects where feasible.

Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?
