Why should voters elect you?

"When I make a promise, I keep a promise. My conservative approach is in step with my district. I deliver effective constituent support."

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"Clearly, the most urgent problem we face in Northern Virginia is illegal immigration. First, Congress must secure our borders. Stop talking about it. Just do it. Second, the federal government must give us more authority to control illegal immigration. If Washington won't, we must. Third, we must act decisively to enforce our laws. A nation that ignores its laws is headed for anarchy. I've been to thousands of doors. Virtually everyone wants illegal immigration dealt with now. That is why I am working with the Republican majority to do just that."

What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?

We made significant headway with the 2007 Transportation compromise bringing NOVA not only $2.1 billion in transit projects, but $300 million yearly that doesn’t flow through the formula in Richmond to far-flung regions. This compromise also reforms VDOT, requiring real performance measures, and provides land use reform so localities can better control sprawl. While I favor full repeal of the “abuser fees”, I worked successfully to secure a $3 billion state-wide construction bond in this compromise that will bring much needed relief to our transportation infrastructure. Now we must build on this plan by getting more of our fair share of the money we are sending to Richmond for future transportation improvements. We must address spending waste and fraud and reprogram funds to transportation. Once again, I will seek legislation requiring a full performance audit of the state by a private audit firm to identify waste.

Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?
