Why should voters elect you?
I will address the issues of growth, transportation, immigration and education so that Loudoun becomes a model for family-friendly communities of the 21st century.
What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
Funding for public services is the most urgent problem facing this jurisdiction. Current expectations suggest that the tax burden on households to fund transportation and education needs will far exceed the growth in household income going forward. Without policy changes in Richmond, the burden of these increased taxes will depend disproportionately on raising local taxes. A more equitable distribution of state tax revenues is needed to preserve healthy growth in Northern Virginia that in turn will benefit the entire state.
What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?
The coordination between land use and transportation planning in Virginia is broken. Florida and Arizona have counties growing as fast as Loudoun, and they have reasonable tax rates and wonderful transportation systems. Virginia must do better. While raising additional funding for transportation is a start, we must fix the underlying disconnect between land use and transportation planning. This can be done without imposing "no growth" restrictions on development.
Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?
not restrictive enough
