Why should voters elect you?

"As an appointee for three governors and a president, I have the experience, knowledge and passion to lead as an effective advocate for our district."

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"We must get the rail project to Dulles moving, because the economic future of District 34 depends on it. I believe that the current plans and debates create uncertainty and fear. I foresee a perfect storm producing massive gridlock when construction of HOT lanes, improvements on Route 7 and rail through Tysons converge. I support the tunnel option through Tysons, and will fight for it, but it is only the first step toward realizing a better urban environment and improved connectivity throughout the district and to Dulles."

What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?

We should use the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority's new funding and 20 year plan to reduce congestion throughout the region, particularly at our worst choke points. We must provide dedicated, sufficient, and sustainable statewide funding that affects all drivers - not just Virginians. We must extend rail to Dulles with a tunnel through Tysons Corner so that our region's "downtown" becomes a vibrant and attractive urban center. We must tie land use and transportation to reduce sprawl. Transit development and incentives to provide workforce housing will help.

Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?

just right
