Why should voters elect you?

"I have demonstrated my commitment to Sully District and to Fairfax County, and I have been effective and brought results in my 16 years."

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"Transportation remains the most urgent issue facing us. Transportation affects every aspect of daily life, from commuting to picking up children at school, to recreational activities and personal safety. Traffic congestion is no longer a rush-hour problem; it is becoming nearly constant, weekends as well as weekdays."

What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?

The new state legislation, as well as the county's efforts with the 2004 and 2007 Transportation Bonds, will finally result in revenue being available to address our road needs. It is critical that the jurisdictions of Northern Virginia to work together and put politics aside to implement an effective transportation network. Congestion points cross jurisdictional boundaries and people drive through other jurisdictions and we must address the transportation from that broader perspective and not from a purely parochial one. The same is true with our transit network. It is also critical that the new Northern Virginia Transportation Authority not get bogged down in bureaucratic infighting and turf wars. The NVTA needs to set clear priorities and develop implementation plans but does not need to manage all of the projects. VDOT and the jursidictions have the bureaucracies in place, and the expertise to do that.

Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?

not restrictive enough
