Why should voters elect you?

"I'm focused on working with the board to find solutions."

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"We need a supervisor focused on the local challenges we face today and will face in the near future. Our traffic mess requires solutions ranging from extending Metro to Fair Oaks to increased state funding. Our schools need more focus on teacher retention, classroom technology, smaller classes and a South County middle school so our kids are prepared for the future. We need to hold the line on property taxes and reduce our dependence on residential property taxes so that people can afford to live in Fairfax. Development needs to be restricted to only when it benefits our communities."

What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?

We need a comprehensive solution that addresses roads, mass transit and development. My plan calls for focus on local solutions like extended turn lanes and new overpasses on 29 and the County Parkway; regional solutions like controlling development, working with our neighboring counties and extending Metro to Fair Oaks; and larger solutions like working as a Board to get increased State and Federal funding for 66, 95, BRAC-related issues and similar needs.

I disagree with my opponent that we should cut Metro funding, increase tolls on the Dulles Toll Road or change the free HOV lanes to tolled HOT lanes. We also disagree in that I believe that we can and should get more state transportation funding and should eliminate the abusive driver fees; unfortunately, my opponent has spoken against trying to get more state funding and has the abusive driver fees' main proponent as his main supporter.

Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?

not restrictive enough
