Why should voters elect you?

"Environmental protection is both my vocation and avocation. During my eight years in office, I have contributed to this effort in numerous ways."

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"Encompassing 400 square miles, 1.1 million residents and millions of square feet of development, Fairfax County faces serious deterioration of its streams because the vast amount of impervious surfaces do not absorb rainwater runoff. In addition to aggressive efforts by the county to address this problem, people who live and work in the county must learn what they can do personally to assist in mitigating this problem, such as careful fertilization, retaining storm water runoff on their own property as much as possible, disposing of trash properly, and growing a tree canopy to cool and filter the air."

What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?

Traffic is not a responsibility of the Conservation District. Speaking as a citizen, I believe that increased telework would be an efficient strategy to reduce the volume of traffic. Also, carpools and vanpools decrease the number of single-occupant vehicles on the road.

Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?
