Why should voters elect you?
As supervisor, I will work to stop overdevelopment and restore credibility to the Board of Supervisors. I will always put Loudoun citizens first, not developers.
What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
The greatest problem facing the Sugarland Run District is overdevelopment. Loudoun County is growing too fast, resulting in Sugarland Run residents facing more traffic gridlock, higher taxes and an overburdened school system. Meanwhile, the Board of Supervisors majority, including my opponent, has voted to approve over 15,000 additional housing units in eastern Loudoun. That means more cars on our roads, more students needing new schools and rising taxes. As supervisor, I will reject development plans that increase traffic, overburden our schools and threaten the quality of our neighborhoods. I will ensure that development decisions benefit Loudoun citizens.
What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?
The first step to addressing Virginiaâs traffic problem is to stop overdevelopment. We need to improve the traffic situation for our existing residents before we approve new residential growth. To improve our current traffic situation, I will work to increase telecommuting and public transportation options, make roads more pedestrian friendly, fix traffic choke points, and expand road capacity. I fully support Metro expansion to Loudoun. We also must look for innovative funding solutions so that our residents are not always facing a huge tax burden to pay for roads. I will work with Loudounâs business community to address some of these costs and alternative ways to fund roads in Loudoun. Above all, I will give priority to the needs of existing communities. Sugarland Run residents are having to spend too much time in their cars instead of at home with their families, and we need to change that.
Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?
