Why should voters elect you?
"I will work to keep taxes low and relieve traffic congestion, improve our schools, enforce immigration laws and provide common-sense solutions for Fairfax County."
What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
"Legal immigrants helped to build this country and have enriched our society. But illegal immigrants have broken our laws and place a tremendous burden on Virginia and Fairfax County. As your delegate, I refuse to sit back and say that there is nothing we can do to individuals whose first action was to break our laws. Illegal immigration is taking a heavy toll on our state health care, law enforcement, education system and our overall security. We must crack down on businesses that knowingly hire illegal immigrants, deny taxpayer benefits to illegal immigrants and strictly enforce our current laws."
What is your plan to address the traffic problems in Virginia?
Transportation is one of Northern Virginia's top issues. I was able to put my transportation experience to use this past session when I helped craft the Transportation Package that brings more than $500 million annually to Northern Virginia. For the first time, this bill gives localities the tools they need to curb runaway growth and development. This money has already been designated to improve roads such as Route 28, Route 29, The Fairfax County Parkway, Braddock Road, I-66, and numerous others. In addition, I am currently the chairman of a study to examine the benefits of telework. When properly utilized, telework will help relieve traffic congestion during peak driving hours. I look to future projects such as rail to Centreville in hopes that we create a diverse transportation network of rail, transit, roads, and telework that will improve the quality of life here in Fairfax County.
Do you think current policies governing growth & development in your area are too restrictive, not restrictive enough or just right?
