What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
The school board and city council must work together creatively to keep our schools top-notch and our city services superior, while maintaining a reasonable tax rate. The board must be careful with every single tax dollar spent, and Falls Church must continue the prudent redevelopment efforts that are strengthening the city's revenue base, because this helps provide the schools with the money needed to keep our teachers' salaries competitive with pay in neighboring jurisdictions.
Why should voters elect you?
After working actively for years in the PTA and in other volunteer roles, I am ready to take the next natural step, to the board.
What steps, if any, should your county take to mitigate the affects of a slowing economy?
With careful spending and responsible, revenue-enhancing redevelopment of our City's primary thoroughfares, the schools can continue to pay teachers fairly, keep facilities modern, and offer an academic program that challenges students of all abilities.
