What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

We have made some significant progress in combating overcrowding in our residential neighborhoods, but this remains our most urgent problem, and we must continue our aggressive campaign to eliminate it.

Why should voters elect you?

As a Herndon native, I care about Herndon's heritage, and I think we have to plan very carefully to hold onto that in the future.

What steps, if any, should your county take to mitigate the affects of a slowing economy?

Herndon's fortunate to have a balanced mix of commercial and residential uses. When one area is slow, the other can usually take up the slack. Tightening our belt on the budget will get us through.

What is your position on illegal immigration and the affect it has had on your county?

We have to have respect for the rule of law. Illegal immigration has had an economic affect on our healthcare system and our schools, and on the overcrowding of our neighborhoods.

In March, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the transportation package passed by lawmakers last year unconstitutional, endangering major projects across the region. What steps, if any, should the county, region and state take to address funding issues for transportation projects?

We have to keep working at all levels to allocate more funding for transportation. It has the biggest impact on our quality of life, affecting our environment and our time spent away from family.
