What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
We face deep divisions in our town today. If we are to heal as a community, we must work together and resolve our differences. If we remain divided, we risk further erosion of our sense of community.
Why should voters elect you?
As mayor, I will bring many years of leadership experience and a long-standing history of consensus building. My record proves it.
What steps, if any, should your county take to mitigate the affects of a slowing economy?
Our Town must exercise sound fiscal management policies in order to hold the line on taxes for citizens while maintaining the exemplary level of services that our residents expect and deserve.
What is your position on illegal immigration and the affect it has had on your county?
Herndon has been polarized over the issue of illegal immigration for far too many years. It is time to focus on illegal behavior. Illegal immigrant law breakers should be arrested and reported to ICE.
In March, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the transportation package passed by lawmakers last year unconstitutional, endangering major projects across the region. What steps, if any, should the county, region and state take to address funding issues for transportation projects?
The Town of Herndon has a very limited ability to address funding for transportation; however, we must continue to urge our State representatives to identify new revenue sources for transportation improvements in Northern Virginia.
