What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?
The increase in traffic caused by the proposed development of Tysons Corner will affect the quality of life in Vienna. The densest development has been planned for the town border closest to Tysons. Even with Metrorail, Vienna streets and neighborhoods will be affected. So far I haven't seen any traffic studies proposed for the areas surrounding Tysons.
Why should voters elect you?
I have represented the interests of Vienna citizens at the state, regional and local levels. I pledge to preserve and protect Vienna's unique character.
What steps, if any, should your county take to mitigate the affects of a slowing economy?
I am acutely awa that the Council is steward of the public's money and I will work to provide the best services with the lowest tax rate possible.
In March, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the transportation package passed by lawmakers last year unconstitutional, endangering major projects across the region. What steps, if any, should the county, region and state take to address funding issues for transportation projects?
We all need to work together for lasting solutions. Transportation planning is critical and cannot be delayed any longer. The economy of the State and region depends on long term funding.
